This variety is astoundingly similar to 1864 L CRK-001, and shares its reverse die. It is very interesting that the 1864 CRK-001 obverse die was replaced, but not the reverse die although it had a large crack on the reverse. More interesting is how quickly the new obverse die – 1864 CRK-002 – formed a bisecting die crack.
Bisecting die crack from 6 in the date, through Liberty at 12:00. Extremely similar to 1864 L CRK-001.
Die crack from 7:00 through the bottom of the wreath to 5:00 that splits south at 6:00, forming a fantastic T-shaped die crack.
